Clean Harbors Announces Price Increase Across Service Lines - Price Increase Implemented to Counter Rising Operating Costs
Norwell, MA – January 28, 2008 – Clean Harbors Environmental Services, Inc. (“Clean Harbors”), the leading provider of environmental and hazardous waste management services throughout North America, today announced that it implemented a series of price increases across all service lines to better counter outside cost pressures.
“Clean Harbors is committed to providing our customers with the highest quality environmental services in our industry,” said David M. Parry, Executive Vice President, Sales & Service. “For the fifth consecutive year, we exceeded our corporate compliance and health and safety goals, and achieved our lowest Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) in our history. In order to ensure the same high-quality services, we continued to invest in our facilities, transportation fleet, and service capabilities in 2007. Looking ahead, our commitment to excellence will not waver in 2008: we have earmarked $55 million to $60 million for capital expenditures to maintain and improve our safety and service reliability and also invest in our growth.”
“While we have successfully driven out significant costs from our operations, by using more rail transportation, cutting treatment costs at our facilities, and further automating our inspection and reporting systems, we are still facing increased expenses and pricing pressures from many goods and services we purchase as well as rising labor, health care, and insurance costs,” Parry said. “As a result, we have implemented a 4.5% average price increase for 2008. Clean Harbors remains steadfast in its commitment to managing the safest, most compliant network of environmental operations, while providing the most responsive, reliable services available for its customers.
